Capital Improvement Fee

This statement serves to announce the implementation of a new Capital Improvement Fee for St Vital Curling Club beginning 2025-2026 season. The Board, after careful consideration and review of our club’s long-term needs, has approved this fee to ensure the financial health and sustainability of our shared infrastructure and assets. This fee is a proactive measure to fund significant upgrades and enhancements that will increase the usability of our club and extend the useful life of our capital assets.

Purpose of the Fee:

The Capital Improvement Fee is a one time charge per season collected at the time of curler registration. This fee will be deposited into a restricted capital fund, which will be used exclusively for major, non-recurring capital expenses, including but not limited to:

  • Replacement of aging amenities (eg, appliances, furniture, ice plant, ice equipment)
  • Significant infrastructure projects (e.g., roof, flooring, windows, doors, walls)
  • Modernization of facilities to improve energy efficiency and safety
  • Major exterior and interior renovations

Distinction from Regular Dues:

It is important to differentiate this fee from regular dues. Our existing dues cover routine operating and maintenance costs. The Capital Improvement Fee, however, is designed to cover larger projects that fundamentally improve or extend the life of our assets, rather than simply restoring them.

Fee Structure:

The Capital Improvement Fee has been set at $10 per curler and will be paid upon registration.. The Board has determined this amount to be a fair and equitable contribution for this season.
